What is the “Moat” concept? Warren Buffet came up with the “moat” concept to describe how a business can protect itself from its competition. How imposing the moat is, the harder it is for competitors to take over the business (or in this case, a castle).
In Medieval Europe, and elsewhere, it was a wild time where many countries were not as fully formed as they are today. Borders changed with the prevailing winds of ravaging warlords.
Well at least up to the front gate. As is tradition, you have to be invited in to visit a marae.
In an organisation, culture isn’t the absence of conflict — it’s how conflict is handled. Every group will have friction; culture determines if that becomes toxic or transformative.
Use influence by listening rather than control to lead by following.
