An idea is a house, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the sandpaper smoothing the edges. Don’t let it build your house for you. You might end up with a slower horse, or a faster house.
Artificial Intelligence is a tool whose main function is to refine human-generated ideas. And it’s really great at doing this! If you give it more and more data it can learn at a startling rate.
The old adage goes:
You want to hire the right people (and use the right tools!) for the job.
But it can only do what it knows (search established sources on the web and/or its own database). Context is key. As a tool, it is not good at context. Yet. For now it’s best at following clear directions (prompts).
With AI make sure you’re the one coming up with the ideas then let it catch the stuff that has clear definitions like spelling, punctuation and grammar.
In the future AI will get better at context, but it will only be as good as the information available right now. Don’t forget that we’ve been working on this for more than 70 years. It’s a very complex tool!
AI is the sandpaper that refines the ideas you come up with. Don’t let it build your house for you; you might end up with a skyscraper instead, or a cardboard box.
